About Us
This Credit Guide provides important information about us, the services we provide, and the activities of the Credit Representative operating under our licence.
It outlines:
-
fees and charges that may be payable by you to us,
-
commissions we may receive,
-
commissions we may pay to third parties for introductions, and
-
information about how to make a complaint.
We provide credit assistance when we:

suggest or assist you in applying for a particular loan,
-
suggest or assist you in increasing an existing loan, or
-
suggest that you remain in an existing credit contract.
We are committed to assisting you to find the right finance option based on your needs and objectives.
Our Commitment to Service
Under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (National Credit Act), we must ensure that any loan or loan increase we arrange is suitable to your needs and objectives.
We will therefore:

make reasonable inquiries about your requirements and financial situation, and

take reasonable steps to verify your financial situation.
If insufficient or incorrect information is provided, we may be unable to make an appropriate recommendation.
You may request a copy of our Preliminary Credit Assessment within seven years of the Credit Assistance Quote Date.
Our Responsible Lending Obligations
We are required to act in your best interests.
This means that any loan products or credit assistance we recommend must be in your best interests, and we will document and explain our reasons for each recommendation.
If a conflict of interest exists or is perceived, we will disclose it to you and always prioritise your interests.
Fees and Commissions
Fees Payable by You to Us
If applicable, these will be disclosed in a Credit Quote, outlining any payable fees and when they are due.
Fees Payable by You to Third Parties
Lenders may charge application, valuation, or other fees associated with your loan application. These will be disclosed in your Credit Proposal Disclosure.
Fees Payable by Us to Third Parties
We may pay small referral fees to third parties (e.g., real estate agents, accountants, or solicitors). These are not charged to you.
Commissions Received
We and our Licensee, Mortgage Specialists Pty Ltd (Specialist Finance Group), may receive commissions from lenders in connection with finance arranged for you. These are not payable by you and are disclosed in your Credit Proposal Disclosure. We may also receive non-monetary benefits such as training, conferences, or professional development events.

We are accredited to arrange loans with a wide range of lenders through our aggregator, Specialist Finance Group.

Referrers, Benefits, and Related Parties
We may receive referrals from third parties and may pay the referrer a commission or fee. This will be disclosed in your Credit Proposal Disclosure. We maintain a Gifts and Benefits Register recording all forms of hospitality or remuneration from lenders or aggregators. You may request access to this register for transparency. We may also have other business roles or shareholdings in related entities. Any such relationships will be disclosed to you if relevant.

Repayment Difficulties
If you experience financial hardship or anticipate difficulty meeting repayments:

Contact us immediately — we may be able to negotiate with your lender.

Lenders have dedicated hardship teams who can assist by:

extending the loan term,
-
pausing or reducing repayments temporarily.

Important Information
We do not provide legal, financial or taxation advice unless agreed separately. You should read all loan documentation carefully and seek independent advice if needed. We also recommend obtaining advice about insurance options such as life, TPD, trauma and income protection insurance. Ensure your finance is formally approved before entering into any binding contract. We have obligations to lenders and under law to report any suspected fraudulent activity.

How and Why We Collect Your Information
We collect personal and sometimes sensitive information to provide credit assistance and related services. This information may be shared with:

lenders and credit providers,

accountants, legal advisers, insurers, or real estate agents,

our aggregator (Specialist Finance Group),

contractors, auditors, and IT providers,

credit reporting bodies (CRBs),
-
or other entities as required by law or with your consent.
Some third parties may be located overseas, including in Bangladesh, India, Ireland, Malaysia, the Philippines, Serbia, and the United Kingdom.
Your Rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold by contacting us or visiting www.specialistfinancegroup.com.au. For information about your privacy rights, visit the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au. If you do not provide the requested information, we may be unable to arrange finance on your behalf.
Marketing and Communications
You consent to us providing you with information about new products and services. You may opt out at any time.
You also consent to receive documents electronically and understand that this consent can be withdrawn.

You authorise us to obtain and exchange credit information with lenders, real estate agents, lawyers or conveyancers as required to assist in arranging credit.
